This episode of Conversations with TED discusses COVID-19 trends and their impact on the recovery of restaurants. The move by restaurants to contactless ordering and delivery continues to be a smart pivot as customers have responded well to the use of technology (apps, QR codes) and control (timing, accuracy, safety, etc.) over their orders. Restaurants have also engaged technology to reduce costs (staff and materials) and increase communication with front of house and back of house teams. Partnering with local governments has also yielded another revenue stream for restaurants: alcohol to-go sales. We also look at add-ons that restaurants can consider to buoy their bottom line and enhance the user experience, including retail opportunities, kits and subscriptions.
